Students honoured to meet with the Governor of South Australia
Daniel H. and Kirsty B. met with His Excellency the Honourable Hieu Van Le and other year 12 leaders at the Student Leaders Reception with the Governor last Wednesday at the Convention Centre.
“It was really an enlightening experience. It was phenomenal,” says Daniel, who is hoping to study a Bachelor of Psychological Science next year.
“Someone like me, thinking that I could go to something like that, it was unexpected. It was a tremendous thing and an honouring experience.
Daniel says that there were over 150 attendees at the event and he initially felt overwhelmed he was nominated to dine with the Governor and other student leaders.
“The Governor spoke about his beginnings, that sort of thing, where he started from to where he is now, and it was a motivational thing where anyone could do the same, which I believe is true as well.”
“I was actually overwhelmed. I came here originally to fill in time while I fought for my son in family court, and to walk away being noticed, it has been tremendous and life changing.”
“I’ve sort of lifted the bar a bit and I’ve applied for university.
“I was always a forklift driver, so university was never something that really came up to me before but now, I’m going with it full hog.”
