NASC staff and students Walk for Autism
From the 29th March to 5th April, Northern Adelaide Senior College staff and students will be participating in the Walk for Autism challenge to raise much needed funds to support people on the autism spectrum.
According to Walk for Autism, people on the autism spectrum see, hear, feel and experience the world differently.
An estimated 1 in every 70 people in Australia is on the autism spectrum.
“I have family members who have autism,” says Alissa M., a NASC student who has organized 2020’s Walk for Autism team at NASC.
“I hope to achieve a big outcome in steps. I want to get people involved in raising awareness and improving their personal fitness.”
For eight days, participants are challenged to walk 10,000 steps per day. Each participant receives a t-shirt and pedometer to stand out and make tracking steps easier.
By taking part in Walk for Autism, NASC will help break down the barriers that keep people excluded and provide the best opportunities for people on the autism spectrum to engage, participate and thrive in the world around them.
If you would like to get involved, please contact Alissa or Laura Sutherland in H308 to register as part of TeamNASC.
