NASC Presentation Day celebrates class of 2020 achievements
Held over two days, Northern Adelaide Senior College celebrated the achievements of their continuing and graduating class of 2020 in its annual Presentation Day celebrations.
Located and livestreamed from the campus HUB, 109 students received their graduation certificate in what has been a turbulent year for education.
“It’s certainly been a ride,” laughs Jaime M., newly graduated after the ceremony.
“I’ve gained a lot of new friends, I’ve learned a lot of new things that I would never have thought of. It’s definitely been a rollercoaster coming here with little to no experience with anything really.”
Sanjhi S., Trishna M. and Asini W., felt that completing year 13 at NASC was the right decision for them.
“I had a really amazing time, I think that NASC provided a really great opportunity to receive learning in a different structure that was tailored to my individual experience that I really liked,” says Trishna.
“I liked the flexibility of it and that I didn’t have to go to school every day, and still maintaining contact with my teachers was really helpful,” agrees Sanjhi.
“For me it was the community of NASC that was really helpful and I think the flexibility was convenient for everyone, especially with the team here. It was a really nice way to finish of SACE,” ends Asini.
Anne Sim, Principal of Northern Adelaide Senior College, congratulates the hard work and dedication of teachers and staff who went above and beyond to ensure that students could complete their Stage 1 and 2 SACE amidst COVID19 restrictions.
“I’m very proud of the achievements of our 2020 class, especially with the disruptions we’ve had this year,” says Anne Sim, Principal.
“Students have achieved very well and all those students expected to complete, did complete.”
Raina M., who won the Lions Club Lionheart Award was flabbergasted that she won and completed her SACE at NASC.
“I won the Lionheart award – that was a big shock!” exclaims Raina.
“I didn’t know it was a thing and I didn’t think I’d get an award so that was amazing to know that my achievements and that my hard work was really recognised and monitored.”
Raina, who first started her journey at NASC through the FLO program, felt that NASC’s subject variety and timetable flexibility helped her to discover what empowered her to study and enjoy education.
“It’s opened my eyes to a different way to learn and the support from the teachers and SSO’s was amazing and you really develop relationships with them and it gives you another chance, another shot, to get where you want to be in life and tread a different path I guess,” says Raina.
“Definitely give NASC a shot. It’s an amazing place. The wonderful teachers, the wonderful case managers, they make school a whole lot more pleasant and they make study fun,” says Jaime.
Northern Adelaide Senior College would like to congratulate the achievements of our 2020 graduating class and to those who achieved SACE credits for Stage 1 and 2. Well done and we hope 2021 brings many new adventures to you all.
