Northern Adelaide Senior College students are in knots creating macramé hanging wall features that will bring warmth and style to any home.

It’s part of North of the Silk Road curriculum that teaches students how to create and run a cottage crafts or small business venture.

Reanna H., a NASC student, is creating a white macramé hanging to be bought at the bi-annual North of the Silk Road Market to be held in late May.

“We’re doing macramé today. Just getting started. I’ve got to step 2 of 99. Well 99 more to go, so more than 99,” jokes Reanna.

“It’s really fun actually. We’re going to do bath bombs next I think.”

Reanna chose to study North of the Silk Road at NASC because she thought that it would be a fun topic to learn and it aligned with her other subjects.

“I thought it would be interesting and I always liked making bath bombs, soap and all that,” says Reanna.

“I actually wanted to start a bath bomb business years ago, something to do on the side.

“I don’t know if I still will but I like learning about the business aspect and just learning new skills in general even if they’re not super in demand.

“It’s nice to be able to do something with your hands.”

Want to learn how to start your own cottage crafts business? Call Northern Adelaide Senior College (08) 7285 1600 to book your spot for Semester 2 intake.
