In its inaugural Career and Subject Expo, current and future Northern Adelaide Senior College students discovered what pathways were available to them from 2021 last Wednesday.
Featuring stall holders from South Australian universities, TAFE and entry-level industries, NASC students spoke with representatives about their options post senior secondary education.
“It was really well laid out – nothing was squished together,” says Jameena I., SACE Completer at NASC.
“The expo lays out everything that is done here, where you weren’t just being told what the classes were, you were shown what you could do.”
“It was interesting to see what the unis had to offer,” says Tamika K., a year 12 NASC student.
“There were a lot variety and different choices to make. I think it was pretty good and that it should keep going the way it is for next year.”
Also on offer were NASC’s 2021 subject offerings featuring our newest subjects, Creative Industries: Broadcast and Live Production and Society and Culture (Fusion).
“The new course in Certificate II in Creative Industries is actually designed for those students who are interested in broadcast and television environment,” says Max Folly, Creative Industries teacher.
“The idea is to actually give them the skills required in the 21st Century around television production.
“For example, when you’re streaming a live gig event, such as music events or working in the film industry, that is the skillset we’ll be covering in the course.”
Dani Burbrook, Graphic Design teacher, is also introducing a new subject for students to develop stronger English language skills through translation and the exploration of visual arts and poetry.
Principal Tours happen at the end of each month. Please check our website to find out when the next tour is happening.
