Northern Adelaide Senior College Academy of Game, Film and Animation students united with Salisbury Council in hosting a school holiday video games event held at Salisbury Community Hub last Thursday.

The event showcased popular titles such as Rocket League, Super Smash Bros., FIFA21 and Mario Kart (both console and live versions).

“People are coming in and playing games and enjoying themselves. Possibly even making new friends,” says Elaina B., a year 12 AGFA student completing her Certificate III in Screen and Media.

“I think it has gone heaps better than what was anticipated. People know what they’re doing and there haven’t been too many problems.”

Jason Jasper, a dad who brought his son along to the event, says that it’s been great to not have to think of an activity for his son to enjoy.

“My son really enjoys video games, so we thought that it would be great and something easy to do during the school holidays,” says Mr Jasper.

“It’s nice not to plan the day, you can rock up and do it and you don’t have to pack up after.”

“With the new building, it accommodates a lot of these activities than what they had before so it’s been really good.”

Mr Jasper says that it’s great to discover the connection between NASC and Salisbury Council in supporting practical learning outcomes.

“I think the students have done a great job in setting things up and modifying things as kids driving abilities are less or better,” Mr Jasper remarks on NASC students Mario Kart setup.

“They should be proud. It’s a wonderful event.”

Northern Adelaide Senior College is accepting mid-term year 11 enrolments. Call Student Services to organise an appointment.
