Northern Adelaide Senior College’s Academy of Gaming, Film and Animation is collaborating with Salisbury City Council to deliver three free workshops for the public to get into the exciting world of eSport gaming.

Focusing on 3D logo design, video game streaming and creating highlight reels, Salisbury youth can develop the skills and knowledge to enter into the gaming world.

Allen S., a NASC student, helped AGFA teacher Ben Ryder with his workshop on 3D logo design last Thursday as part of his Community Studies project.

“I’m working on creating my own type of event, more about developing a game instead,” says Allen.

“I figured, Ben knows a bit, I can get a bit of experience to see how it runs.”

“It was a bit tricky at first because it’s my first time doing it and I didn’t know exactly what I was doing. Ben was pretty helpful in explaining what I needed to do and how to help him with it.”

Allen attributes his brother as the inspiration to his involvement here at NASC, especially in the AGFA program.

“I was thinking I wanted to make my own game, because I play a lot of games and I wanted to make my own.

“My little brother was doing AGFA at the time and I decided well if he’s learning how to make games through them then I might give it a shot.

“Turned out to be pretty good and I learned quite a fair bit from it.”

Allen hopes to run a similar event in the future with Salisbury City and Playford Councils.

“I had a lot of fun with it. Pretty decent community and makes me actually want to get the event working and probably do something similar.

“I might look into seeing if I’m able to do others, and if I am, I’d probably help them otherwise I’ll probably just wait until I make my own.”
